Description:
News on iPlayer is a pioneering multidisciplinary team, charged with delivering, creating and curating the best of BBC News on iPlayer. The team is expanding – across the UK – to continue to serve and grow audiences consuming news on our streaming platform, both on demand and live.
As a team based within digital development, piloting and testing new formats for SVOD is crucial, while also ensuring we improve the existing programme offer on BBC iPlayer through better curation, iPlayer-first delivery and more. Streaming audiences are constantly evolving, so we must too!
As a Journalism Co-ordinator, you’ll play a key role in helping to deliver the best of BBC News on iPlayer. At the heart of the operation you’ll co-ordinate filming, logistics and be a key point of call for colleagues to ensure consistently excellent delivery of programming, at pace.
Main Responsibilities
- A role which is at the centre of the team you’ll be at home organising, co-ordinating and managing multiple ongoing projects. There’ll be no two days the same – from co-ordinating filming, to triaging scheduling and payments; or researching pictures, archiving and delivering our programmes. You’ll have a keen eye for detail -- and you’ll help to just make things happen!
- You’ll play a key role during the production process, including producing call-sheets and risk assessments, booking crews and problem-solving if any issues arise.
- iPlayer is a major priority for the BBC and for BBC News. You’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring the output is co-ordinated as activity increases, exponentially.
- Working between a daily news operation and an agile, iterative development team you will be equally at home operating with colleagues across the BBC on key news coverage; or working with audience panels to develop and create new formats for our platforms.
- Experimentation, piloting and continual improvement are key to success. You should be able to work across a number of simultaneous projects and be prepared for continuous change.
- We need to build our VOD audiences and grow our live audience on iPlayer. It’s an exciting opportunity to shape the future of the industry; you’ll be motivated to embrace the challenge and work with others to seize the opportunity.
- The Journalism Co-ordinator will be expected to work some evenings and weekends to help us deliver always on News coverage on iPlayer.
