Description:
This Category Manager role is responsible for leading, co-ordinating, and managing all strategic sourcing activities across the assigned IT area of spend. Demonstrating value beyond traditional savings, the IT Procurement Category is engaged in supporting its stakeholders on a digital transformation for HME, so being open to change and having an analytical mindset is key.
This role is responsible for the planning and execution of IT procurement strategies to deliver value benefits and innovation to the organisation. Equally, the role will involve maintaining the policy compliance and governance model, while meeting the needs of several business areas.
Role responsibilities include:
- Responsible for developing IT procurement strategy for all related projects.
- Create and maintain a Category Plan that includes a category pipeline and objectives that align with HME’s overall business goals.
- Deliver major procurement projects in EUC (End User Computing), Infrastructure, Connected Vehicles, SaaS (Software as a Service) and PaaS (Platform as a Service) as well as major outsourced contracts.
- Help stakeholders to manage budget and resources to ensure delivery of business plan objectives through the procurement process and offering commercial guidance.
- Develop an environment of continuous improvement where the team can proactively challenge the status quo and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Responsible for leading strategic projects, plus any related contract discussion and amendments in conjunction with Legal.
- Responsible for leading and structuring the RFx process that suits the business needs and requirements whilst fulfilling our governance and helping to get best value.
- Lead key negotiations that reflect ongoing cost and process efficiencies that drive in long-term benefit to the organisation.
Qualifications, skills and experience required
- Previous IT procurement experience on major and complex projects.
- Experience running a full tender process is essential ideally in multiple IT subcategories and services.
- A proven track record of implementing major projects within large organisations.
- Proven track record of supplier relationship management, including evidence of effective negotiation skills within high value and complex procurement.
