Description:

An important role within the organisation, the ISBN Advisor has to work collaboratively with our publisher clients and internal teams. The successful candidate will need to be able to manage a number of competing priorities to ensure that ISBN allocations are managed promptly and ensure that a high standard of client service is maintained.

Demands a highly motivated and well-organised individual who is capable of being part of a team. Critically, must be able to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner. .

Tasks And Responsibilities
 

  • Ensure that ISBN and SAN clients receive a high standard of customer service
  • Support the Registration Service Manager in achieving the budgeted revenue
  • Have a detailed knowledge of the ISBN Standard, including any updates or revisions
  • Use the expert knowledge of the ISBN Standard to respond effectively to publisher enquiries via phone and email
  • Complete the work allocated by the Registration Services Manager
  • Process the ISBN Store daily files
  • Process manual ISBN applications
  • Process ISBN reissue requests
  • Have a detailed knowledge of the SAN and GLN standards
  • Process SAN applications
  • Provide advice and feedback to internal teams requiring ISBN expertise
  • Represent the ISBN Agency and the ISBN Standard in client meetings as required
  • Make appropriate publisher and imprint name changes
  • Maintain the organisational database
  • Maintain a good and active relationship with the International ISBN Agency
  • Liaise with the International ISBN Agency for the provision of new ISBN prefixes as required
  • Attend the International ISBN Agency Online AGM
  • Contribute to the monthly International ISBN Agency report cleanse
  • Ensure that the ISBN Store contains the appropriate number of ISBN prefix blocks to cover allocations
  • Support the Registration Services Manager in the creation of support materials to communicate ISBN Agency policies and guidelines
  • Test ISBN Store developments
  • Attend weekly team meetings and other meeting as appropriate to the role
     

Qualifications
 

  • 5 GCSEs, including English
  • Publishing knowledge or relevant Book Trade experience a definite advantage
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Thorough attention to detail
  • Good organisational skills
  • A passion for first-rate customer service
  • Proficient use of: e-mail, Excel and Microsoft 365
