A local government organization in the Midlands is seeking an Interim Systems and Performance Officer to oversee financial systems, enhance operational efficiency, and support financial transformation. This role offers an opportunity to lead system improvements and contribute to key financial processes within a complex public sector environment.

Key Responsibilities:

💼 Financial Systems Management – Oversee the administration and optimization of financial systems, ensuring compliance with local and national regulations.
🖥️ Technical Support & Liaison – Act as the link between ICT, suppliers, and service areas to improve system performance.
📊 Data & Reporting – Manage financial systems including EFin, Civica, and Business Objects, ensuring accurate reporting and reconciliation.
📈 Finance Business Support – Assist Finance Business Partners in providing accounting services and advising Council Management Teams & Boards.
🎓 Training & Compliance – Deliver finance and system-related training to staff, ensuring adherence to professional and statutory regulations.
🔧 Process Improvement – Identify and implement efficiency improvements, automation, and financial system enhancements.
👥 Team Leadership – Supervise a team including Finance Technicians, a Trainee Finance Officer, and a Finance Apprentice.
📑 Audit & Compliance – Work closely with internal and external auditors to maintain best practices.
🚀 Financial Transformation – Contribute to the council’s financial transformation strategy by optimizing system efficiencies.

Key Requirements:

✔️ Extensive finance experience within local government or public sector.
✔️ Strong knowledge of financial management systems (EFin, Civica, Business Objects).
✔️ Ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
✔️ Advanced Excel proficiency and expertise in financial reporting systems.
✔️ Experience in team leadership, training, and process improvement.
✔️ Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
✔️ Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Contract Details & Benefits:

Interim contract with a competitive £350 - £400 per day (Inside IR35).
