Key Responsibilities
- With a professional and customer focused approach, you will handle and defend insurance claims made against the council.
- The role is full of variety, and you will have the opportunity to work on a mixed portfolio of claims.
- You will process and monitor internal and external claims so that deadlines are met, and any resulting queries / rejections are resolved in a timely manner.
- You will engage with claimants and their solicitors, using tact and diplomacy when dealing with difficult or sensitive claims.
- You will help them ensure that their robust systems and data is well maintained, so that their claims handling is effectively supported.
Skills And Qualifications
- Experience of Insurance claim handling
- An understanding of the principles of insurance and risk.
- A high standard of literacy and numeracy.
- Experience of extracting, collating, analysing, and presenting data.
- Experience of working to deadlines and having to prioritise work.
- Experience and competence in using IT and common business support packages including Word processing and Excel spreadsheets.
- Insurance qualification would be desirable but not essential.
