Key Responsibilities
 

  • With a professional and customer focused approach, you will handle and defend insurance claims made against the council.
  • The role is full of variety, and you will have the opportunity to work on a mixed portfolio of claims.
  • You will process and monitor internal and external claims so that deadlines are met, and any resulting queries / rejections are resolved in a timely manner.
  • You will engage with claimants and their solicitors, using tact and diplomacy when dealing with difficult or sensitive claims.
  • You will help them ensure that their robust systems and data is well maintained, so that their claims handling is effectively supported.
     

Skills And Qualifications
 

  • Experience of Insurance claim handling
  • An understanding of the principles of insurance and risk.
  • A high standard of literacy and numeracy.
  • Experience of extracting, collating, analysing, and presenting data.
  • Experience of working to deadlines and having to prioritise work.
  • Experience and competence in using IT and common business support packages including Word processing and Excel spreadsheets.
  • Insurance qualification would be desirable but not essential.
