Marmion Recruitment is seeking a Health and Safety Coordinator for a food manufacturing business based in Harrogate. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with health and safety experience in manufacturing or food production to step into a role offering significant development and progression opportunities.
This hands-on role will require active engagement with the production team to embed a culture of safety across the facility. The successful candidate will work closely with all departments to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental (EHS) standards and legislation, while also driving continuous improvement in safety processes and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing expert guidance and support on all EHS matters across the business.
- Managing relationships with regulatory bodies and leading health and safety audits.
- Developing a strong culture of safety engagement and communicating safety achievements company-wide.
- Overseeing COSHH documentation and ensuring compliance with all necessary regulations.
- Conducting EHS inspections and audits to identify risks and opportunities for improvement.
- Assisting with accident investigations and making recommendations to prevent recurrence.
- Reviewing and aligning company policies, procedures, and documentation to match evolving EHS management systems.
- Maintaining EHS records, including documentation in line with ISO 14001 standards.
- Collaborating with the Health & Safety Network to ensure site-wide compliance with company policies.
- Developing and delivering EHS training programs to all relevant staff.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Degree in Environmental, Safety, Engineering, or related field.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within FMCG/Food production.
- Strong knowledge of EHS law and best practices.
- A recognised H&S qualification, such as NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.
- Familiarity with ISO 14001 standards and waste management processes.
- Strong training development and delivery skills.
