Description:
A prestigious independent school in London is seeking a Health and Safety Advisor to champion a proactive health and safety culture across its diverse educational environment. This standalone position covers various domains including fire safety, occupational health, compliance, and construction, offering a broad and fulfilling scope of work within a dynamic setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct audits of facilities and practices to ensure full compliance with health and safety legislation.
Collaborate with internal departments and external professionals to enhance and implement safety policies and procedures.
Ensure the organisation is inspection-ready and maintains up-to-date legal compliance.
Compile regular reports on health and safety performance and identify areas for improvement.
Manage risk assessments and maintain relevant safety documentation and registers.
Oversee safety compliance of contractors and conduct site inductions.
Serve as a key advocate for creating a safe school community and act as a certified first aider.
Candidate Requirements:
Essential: NEBOSH National Diploma (or equivalent, or currently working towards), strong knowledge of property, building, and occupational health and safety legislation, and hands-on experience leading H&S in a complex organisation.
Desirable: Familiarity with independent school operational standards and prior experience within the education sector.
Excellent interpersonal, organisational, and IT skills are essential, as is the ability to solve problems proactively.
