Our Compliance function is growing to support our refreshed purpose and strategy and we are recruiting for a newly created role heading up Regulatory Engagement & SMCR.

Due to the nature and scale of St James's Place, the business is subject to a high level of regulation and regulatory scrutiny. In addition, this role also includes leading the SMCR (Senior Manager & Certification Regime) team to ensure that we can demonstrate that the regime is fully implemented and embedded within the business.

In this role you will:

  • Manage regulatory relationships, primarily with the FCA and PRA.
  • Maintain a core understanding of the themes and expectations emerging from SJP’s day to day engagement with FCA and PRA and from key regulatory letters to the firm such as Firm Evaluation and Periodic Supervisory Meeting letters.
  • Agree core themes for regulatory engagement and ensure a joined-up approach with clear ownership and tracking of actions to provide evidence to the regulators of progress.
  • Provide clear concise reporting to the Board and Committees on core themes and overall relationship with the FCA and PRA.
  • Act as a trusted advisor and demonstrate judgement to senior management on regulatory matters, anticipating and clearly sign posting regulatory risk.
  • Collaboratively working with the SMCR team to ensure that the SMCR regime is fully embedded and that Senior Managers, Certified and Conduct staff are identified, assessed and managed.
  • Ensure SMF applications submitted to the FCA are of a high standard whilst ensuring notifications to the FCA on the SMF population are timely and of a high standard.
  • Provide advice to HR on relevant HR policies applicable to the SMCR population, including remuneration and conduct policies.

Who we’re looking for:

You will be an experienced leader with demonstrated regulatory supervisory or regulatory relationship experience. Your experience will have given you a strong understanding of the regulatory requirements which apply to St James's Place, including insurance, asset management and investment advice.

You will also have a strong understanding of the Senior Managers & Certification Regime and experience of embedding/developing this in previous roles.
