Head Of Matrix Finance Team

Description:

The Head of Matrix Finance Team will be responsible for overseeing the financial management of the Matrix Programme, a cross-government initiative involving 9 departments, including DSIT. This role will lead a finance team, providing strategic direction and ensuring financial processes align with DSIT’s standards. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to influence decision-making at senior levels and drive key financial objectives within a highly collaborative, transformative project.

Key Responsibilities:

✔ Lead the Matrix finance team, providing strategic direction, building team capability, and managing a team of G7 and SEO roles.
✔ Oversee the finance section of the Programme Business Case and ensure its alignment with government objectives.
✔ Ensure robust financial management and provide assurance to the Programme Senior Responsible Owner (SRO) and Board.
✔ Engage with senior stakeholders and build credibility across departments.
✔ Oversee the implementation of financial controls, processes, and the month-end management accounts process across the 9 departments.
✔ Coordinate with the DSIT Finance Business Partner and Strategic Finance functions.

Requirements:

🎓 Full accountancy qualification under one of the main CCAB bodies (ACCA, CIPFA, ICAEW, ICAI, ICAS) or CIMA.
🎯 Proven experience in leading financial management teams and influencing senior colleagues.
🎯 Experience in operating within a changing environment and collaborating across organisational boundaries.
🎯 Ability to analyse and communicate complex financial data clearly.

Desirable Criteria:

🎯 Experience with transformation programmes, particularly in the digital space.
🎯 Understanding of cross-government finance priorities and the business case process.
🎯 Experience in procurement and cross-government working.
