Description:

Our Head of Finance & Resources will report to our CEO and be a member of our Strategic Leadership Team. You will be responsible for leading our Finance and Business & Systems teams and you will also liaise with Trustees, most notably those on the Finance & Audit Committee. You will directly line manage our Finance Manager and Business & Systems Manager and you will be the budget holder for the Finance Department.  We are ambitious and we need you to help us shape the strategic financial direction of Green Light Trust. This is a new role that will be key in helping GLT grow, whilst ensuring our teams are set up for success in effective delivery of our charitable work.

 

The priorities in this role will be:

  • Leading Your Team – Our people are our most valuable asset and it’s important they’re at the centre of your thinking. You’ll need to support them with opportunities for development and work with us to identify any additional roles you may need. Your team is key to the success of GLT and they will need to provide excellent service to our organisation and help upskill the wider workforce.
  • Management Accounting – Working with Strategic Leadership Team colleagues to develop an annual financial plan that underpins our strategic aims and objectives. You will interpret past performance and current progress to provide valuable insight to our teams that assists in key decision making. Working with our Fundraising Team you will provide support with all aspects of income generation particularly with funding applications and reports to Trusts and Grant bodies.
  • Financial Accounting – You will have oversight over the balance sheet to ensure our financial security and will be accountable for treasury management including cash flow, banking, tax, payment cycles and related activities. You will develop and embed financial controls to eliminate risk of error and fraud, and provide investigative support where required. You will also play a key role in supporting external audits and compiling our Annual Report and Accounts.
  • Company Secretary – You will provide advice and support to the Strategic Leadership Team and the Trustees to help ensure GLT is legally compliant and exercises good governance in keeping with current regulatory or statutory requirements and best practice.
  • Business & Systems – You will help to ensure that our office facilities and systems operate effectively and continue to evolve to support the needs of the charity as it continues to grow.

 

Who we’re looking for:

 

This role would suit a qualified accountant or recent past finalist who is working at a senior level in a finance function, ideally in the Third Sector. We’re looking for someone who can hit the ground running, who adds value and enhances the experience of our teams. You’ll need to have the skillset to develop a multi-disciplinary team and be capable of making complex information concise and digestible for a wider audience.

 

A key part of this role will be ensuring we are well equipped to deliver excellent value for money for the contracts we are trusted to deliver. You’ll need to have, or to gain, an understanding of the Health & Social Care system and the other commissioning services that we work with. You’ll need to be able to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Part of this role will require you to provide constructive challenge and support to your peers and our CEO/Board of Trustees – you’ll need the adaptability to do this authoritatively. You will need to complete an enhanced DBS check and this role is subject to a 6 month probation period.
