As the Global Procurement Category Manager – Energy & Utilities you must understand the complexities, commitments and risks needed to deliver sustainable and affordable energy, waste, and water solutions in geographies globally and being able to articulate this to internal stakeholders of a FTSE 250 company. The role can significantly influence JM's ability to achieve its ESG agenda and Net Zero goals by optimizing utilities-related operations, reducing environmental impact, managing risks, engaging stakeholders, ensuring compliance, and facilitating responsible practices throughout the organization and supply chain. Overall, the role would be responsible to manage and assess market risks and develop strategies to secure cost-effective renewable energy and utilities supply contracts, negotiate favourable terms and identify energy, waste and water saving opportunities which can directly contribute to financial and operational sustainability.

Your responsibilities:
 

  • Responsible for providing regular update forecast of budgetary impact and risk portfolio analysis. Provide regular activity reporting, work priorities outlook and management updates.
  • Responsible for monitoring the energy and water consumption in our operations worldwide and align the procurement strategy with the business operational needs.
  • Takes ownership of specific tasks/projects as directed by the Global Procurement Category Lead – Utilities.
  • Execute sourcing strategies and processes associated to the Energy and Utilities categories to power JM operations and meet sustainability targets (Scope 1 and 2 reduction, renewable energy consumption, waste and water reduction)
  • Understand the Utilities (Energy, Waste, and Water) markets where JM operates.
  • Undertake options analysis of renewable energy solutions and make proposals of the optimum solution for JM backed up by appropriate Business case in each Market that it operates in
  • Negotiate and implement Utilities solutions such as Power and Gas Purchase Agreements, Energy Savings-as-a-Service, Water and Waste projects on a site / country-wide basis as needed.

     

Requirements for the role:
 

  • Degree qualified and/or proven experience within Energy & Utilities markets
  • Ability to develop the Business Case, thinking beyond cost and present this to key internal stakeholders
  • Understand and articulate what is needed both internally and externally within a large organisation to deliver a large-scale Power & Gas Purchase Agreement
  • Proven experience in negotiating Power & Gas Purchase Agreements
  • Proven experience in Energy Risk Management, developing hedging strategies using different instruments, such as, financial and physical instruments.
  • Ability to operate effectively in different cultures and across geographies, including managing stakeholders and colleagues remotely (across distance and time zones).
