Description:
Derian House Children's Hospice, based in Chorley, Lancashire, is seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate GP Advisor to support its clinical strategy in caring for children and young people with life-limiting conditions across the North West.
As a self-employed GP Advisor, you will work alongside a team of dedicated healthcare professionals, supporting the day-to-day medical operations of the hospice and providing on-call cover. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the best possible care for over 400 children, young people, and their families, helping them make the most of every moment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Daily contact or in-person visits (Monday to Saturday) to assess and provide treatment for children and young people.
- Out-of-hours availability during your on-call week to provide emergency assessment, symptom management, and end-of-life care.
- Certifying deaths and prescribing medications following hospice guidelines.
- Liaising with hospice care staff, paediatricians, and family GPs to ensure proper communication of discharge information.
- Documenting all consultations in accordance with GMC standards.
- Attending a monthly one-hour GP meeting (at least 9 times per year).
- Completing 16 hours of CPD training per year, funded by Derian House.
- Maintaining annual GMC appraisal, revalidation, and indemnity coverage.
What We’re Looking For:
- Registered UK GP with relevant paediatric experience.
- Strong clinical decision-making skills and experience in symptom management.
- Compassionate and dedicated to end-of-life and palliative care.
- Ability to work independently while being an active part of a multidisciplinary team.
Salary & Benefits:
- Daily Rate: £158.94 (£1,112.58 per week for on-call weeks).
- Call-out Fees: £73.35 (Monday to Friday) / £106.82 (Weekends).
