Fund Controller

 

Description:

My client is a prestigious and growing private investment firm primarily focussed on real estate, who are looking to hire a Fund Controller to oversee a private debt fund.

 

This is an excellent opportunity for a high-calibre individual with experience in senior level fund finance roles to join a collaborative and inclusive team based in London. This role offers the opportunity to develop robust knowledge of the debt fund business, working with extended levels of autonomy while at the same time being a pivotal contact person exposed to deal origination, asset managers, tax, legal and capital markets teams.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Modeling and Reporting:

  • Develop and maintain fund and deal models for periodic returns and performance indicators.
  • Create advanced models for complex funds, conduct sensitivity tests, and simulate returns.
  • Present periodic performance to external directors.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Participate in meetings with asset managers, capital markets, and deal origination teams.
  • Serve as the primary contact for fund matters, monitoring deadlines and milestones.

Financial Analysis:

  • Execute lender covenant calculations and financial statement models.
  • Review fund accounts and manage carried interest calculations.
  • Develop and maintain complex waterfalls for investment vehicles.

Liquidity and Cash Management:

  • Perform short- and long-term liquidity forecasting.
  • Manage capital calls, distributions, and drawdowns on debt facilities.
  • Plan and execute payments, ensuring optimal liquidity levels.

Risk Management and Compliance:

  • Plan and monitor hedges, including FX and interest rates.
  • Oversee daily operations of the fund and its entities.
  • Participate in audit processes and ensure compliance.

 

Skills and experience:

  • ACA qualified with at least 4 years' audit experience in a top accounting firm
  • Advanced excel skills and ideally modelling and planning experience.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced working environment.
  • A collaborative outlook and team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
