Job description
T Brand Studio International is looking for an experienced and creative Front-end Developer to be based in London. This person will join our design and development team, within the creative studio based in London, Paris, Singapore and New York. You will be working alongside our in-house team of designers, editors, creative leads, projects managers and strategists, helping to create original advertising content across The New York Times premium ecosystem.

The Front-End Developer will contribute to the ideation of digital storytelling ideas, define and lead on their technical requirements and transform ambitious designs into interactive experiences and occasionally custom ad products, ensuring their end-to-end accuracy and quality.We are looking for someone who is not only passionate about coding, but also has a keen eye for digital design, is a great communicator and team player and has experience in a creative or advertising environment, which will help understand the creative dynamics of the job.

Main responsibilities:

  • Build highly interactive, engaging digital experiences on The New York Times

  • Faithfully translate flat designs into fully semantic and interactive front-ends

  • Assist designers in creating custom pages on Webflow, and occasionally other ad products

  • Maintain high standards of code quality, documentation, accessibility, standards and security

Our ideal candidate:

Deep understanding of

  • Web development basics: HTML, CSS/SASS, JavaScript

  • Modern web development practices (Git) and tooling, such as Vite or Webpack

  • DOM manipulation, SVG and canvas animation, with GSAP or other libraries

  • Web Accessibility standards

  • Web development best practices, such as code reusability, cross-browser testing, performance optimisation

Working knowledge of

  • Webflow and its integration with custom code

  • Digital design tools, particularly Figma

  • Main Adobe CS software and tools to process visual assets, for example ffmpeg

  • Digital design best practices, such as responsive design and development, prototyping

Nice to have experience with

  • Component-based JavaScript frameworks, such as Svelte, Vue or React

  • WebGL or 2D Canvas in-browser real time graphics

  • Google Cloud Platform and its services

  • Google Analytics setup and integration

  • UI design, UX practices, user-centred and inclusive design
