Description:

An experienced Fire Engineer is sought to join a dynamic team, leading Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs) and ensuring compliance on major projects across the UK. The role combines both on-site and in-house responsibilities, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to the leadership and growth of the team while ensuring fire safety across both new-build and existing developments.

As a Fire Engineer, you will be responsible for conducting both visual and fully intrusive Fire Risk Assessments and will be expected to liaise effectively with clients, including Local Authorities and Housing Associations. You will also guide clients on fire safety compliance and regulatory standards, with a focus on risk mitigation and cost-effective solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Fire Risk Assessments, both internal and external, in line with current legislation.

  • Conduct detailed inspections and compile comprehensive Fire Risk Assessment reports.

  • Advise clients on fire safety compliance, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.

  • Communicate with key stakeholders including clients, contractors, and developers to ensure safety and compliance.

  • Contribute to team leadership and development, helping to grow the fire engineering team.

  • Undertake peer review of reports from other Fire Engineers and ensure accuracy.

  • Assist with Business Development and client relationship management, cultivating both new and existing clients.

Essential Criteria:

  • Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience in fire engineering, specifically in the UK construction industry.

  • Proven expertise in conducting External Wall Risk Assessments and completing Type 1-4 Fire Risk Assessments.

  • Experience with refurbishment and re-cladding projects of various sizes.

  • In-depth knowledge of fire protection systems and ability to offer strategic guidance on fire safety.

  • Chartered status or membership of relevant professional bodies, such as MIFireE, MIFSM, CEng, or similar.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with clients and stakeholders.

  • Ability to provide practical, cost-effective fire safety solutions to mitigate risk.

  • Team leadership experience, with the ability to assist in the growth and development of a small team.

  • Familiarity with Quality Management Systems and the ability to report regularly on project status.
