Role Overview: The Senior Management Accountant plays a critical role in enhancing the financial reporting processes. This position will work closely with auditors to ensure a successful year-end process and manage the preparation and maintenance of the monthly cash flow forecast. Your contributions will be instrumental in maintaining the integrity and accuracy of our financial data.

Key Responsibilities:

Month-end Reporting:

  • Prepare and maintain cash flow forecasts, analyse actual cash flow data, and provide insightful commentary on variances.
  • Oversee the accounting for Intangible and Tangible fixed assets, including the preparation of month-end journals and the review of monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Contribute significantly to the monthly/annual closing and consolidation process, identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Group Accounting Manager to ensure the quality, accuracy, and consistency of the financial data reported in the general ledger and consolidation system, including the reconciliation.

Year-end Audit and Statutory Reporting Responsibilities:

  • Manage the consolidation of the group and subsidiary financial statements, taking ownership of specific disclosure notes and maintaining consolidation working papers.
  • Produce financial statements for the UK subsidiary entities, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and legal requirements.
  • Coordinate with external auditors throughout the annual audit fieldwork process, ensuring timely responses to audit queries and meeting deadlines.
  • Ensure compliance with FRS 102 across the global firm, including the production and maintenance of global accounting policy documentation.
  • Support statutory processes in other locations.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Drive process improvement within the Accounting & Reporting team.
  • Undertake ad-hoc analysis of accounts and other financial information.
  • Provide support to senior management and the business as necessary, including support for strategic project work.
  • Regularly review risk assessments and the appropriateness of mitigating controls.

Risk and Control:

  • Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with the regulatory requirements and internal policies.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Essential accounting qualification (ICAS, ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, with a preference for those with an audit background.
  • Strong technical understanding of FRS 102 and IFRS.
  • Experience in an international, multi-currency business, ideally within the professional services sector, particularly legal.
  • Strong numeracy skills with experience in Group consolidations within an international environment.
  • Proficiency in advanced Excel and analytical skills for handling and interpreting large volumes of data.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and persuasively, orally or in writing, with stakeholders at all levels.
  • A proven track record of successful project delivery.
  • Flexibility to meet tight deadlines and manage competing priorities.
