Financial Controller

 

Description:

Our finance team controls the cash within the business, but also provides support to the business to help make decisions with development and brand growth. 2024 is an exciting time to join the company as we expand into new growth territory in the e-commerce space.

 

You will have the responsibility of partnering with the directors and other departments to deliver accurate budgets, forecasts, and analysis reports, alongside supporting data input and consolidations.

 

What you will do:

Manage all day-to-day accounting operations including, A/P, Nominal ledger, VAT returns, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition

 

Reconcile accounts and consolidate financial data

Reviewing and challenging the short-term cashflow; analysing movements between actuals vs forecast, with regular sales target reviews

 

  • Produce clear and insightful reporting and analysis for managers and external parties
  • Regularly assess profits and loss, with advice and indicators for points of financial improvements
  • Liaising with other external teams, to ensure accurate and efficient data contribution to new projects and input regarding short-term cash flow
  • Summarising budget trends and analysing deficiencies, with new recommendations and suggested solutions
  • Take care of tax preparation or liaise with external tax accountants for tax preparation
  • Ad-hoc scenario modelling and analysis of finance data to allow informed decision-making regarding business growth and development
  • Produce clear budgets for all departments, with cash flow forecasting for both short- and long-term periods
  • Consolidation of cash actuals at month and year-end
  • Regular cash reporting to Directors
  • Input your advice when pursuing new projects, based off relevant data analysis you have collected
  • Provide support with international financials, including working with external partners and internal teams to produce accurate delivery costings/duties and tax figures, alongside staying up to date on new international requirements and financial regulations
  • Assist with preparation for external audits, providing auditors with necessary documentation and support
  • Maintaining excellent knowledge of stock and operations processes, with clear communication channels with buying and merchandising teams
  • Additional controller duties as necessary

 

We'd love to meet someone with:

  • A recognized UK Accounting accreditation or equivalent (preferably CIMA, ACCA, or ACA)
  • 2+ years experience in a company of a similar realm e.g. previously from the e-commerce industry
  • A strong ability to create, plan and prioritise their own workload within set time limits
  • Outstanding analytical and financial modelling skills that are suited to a growing business
  • Attention to detail with a high standard of accuracy with numbers and data
  • The ability to be pro-active and take initiative without management input
  • A strong understanding of accounting principles and risk management
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, that loves liaising with members of a team but also works well on their own
  • An open mind and the ability to pivot strategies and modelling based on the current business needs
  • The ability to be a team player who will contribute to company culture and success
