Financial Controller

 

Description:

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of one of the biggest growth areas in the energy market. This role is based in the finance team that supports RWE’s global offshore wind development business. Working in this team you will support this dynamic renewables business.

Responsibilities:
 

  • Manage the financials relating to the new long-term charter agreements of the offshore wind construction vessels by ensuring the successful recharging of costs to projects
  • Promoting financial discipline through active monitoring of utilisation performance with other support functions such that financial risks are escalated and modelled in a timely way through the decision-making process and ahead of agreeing day rates with projects
  • Ensure commercial decisions are taken to balance the needs of all stakeholders: RWE, partners and projects
  • Prepare the monthly reporting. This can include the preparation of required accruals, producing reports and detailed analysis on the resource and non-resource costs
  • Establish and set up new robust processes, and leverage existing corporate processes (procure to pay, intercompany/project invoicing) for the efficient flow of transactions, and financial information, drawing on accounting and IT-related support as necessary
  • Produce key performance indicators and progress reports for submission into a monthly Steer Co pack for review by all senior Development and Functional stakeholders
  • Ensure internal controls are being adequately applied e.g. Delegation of Authority for RWE investment spend, controls detailed in specific project shareholder agreements or local country-specific procedures, etc
  • Review costs with the project(s) regularly to ensure forecasts, risks, and opportunities are captured and managed appropriately and communicated to line and project management teams
     

Qualifications:
 

  • Experience working in a project or commercial environment on finance topics ie Accounting, Controlling
  • Proactive in managing multiple stakeholders and priorities
  • Experienced in working with SAP4Hana or other ERP systems and Excel (Procure to Pay processes, Actuals Reporting)
  • Knowledge of the basic renewables market structures and/ or large development/construction projects preferably with a great desire to expand knowledge of this market
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and global environment with an entrepreneurial attitude
  • Ability to develop relationships with a variety of stakeholders
