Field Based Industrial Wastewater Chemist

Our client is a market leading wastewater and effluent treatment solutions provider in the UK. Their expert team of Chemists coupled with their complete range of wastewater chemicals deliver the highest quality of treatments and expertise to deliver quality, affordable wastewater treatment solutions to any industrial wastewater solutions.

They supply chemicals and wastewater expertise to a wide variety of processing and industrial companies to include Food & Beverage Manufacturers, Breweries, Dairies, Milk Processing facilities to name just a few for all their industrial clean water sites.

They now need a Field based Industrial Wastewater Chemist to be based from home in South Wales to look after customers in the South Wales region to include Cardiff, Swansea, Newport.

The Industrial Wastewater Chemist will spend approx. 3 days out in the field on a weekly basis, attending customer site ensuring the wastewater chemicals and solutions are working effectively to meet the customers’ needs.

Client facing duties include: -

• Independently diagnosing issues found onsite and escalating or rectifying as required.
• Identifying opportunities for upgrades - whether this is chemical dosing equipment, training, analytical services, or increased scope of supply.
• Finding, fixing, or seeking solutions for any problems encountered.
• Ensuring the service plan is defined & delivered to customer satisfaction.
• The remainder of the week (approx. 20%) will be spent at the Company’s On-Site Laboratory to undertake chemistry in the lab to include: -
• Jar testing, recommending changes, reporting, and communicating treatment performance in line with customer needs and policies.
• Engaging with safe chemical delivery & storage procedures.
• Calibrating personal & onsite equipment and generating certificates.
• Operating dosing pumps and changing dosing rates based on test results.
• Complete COD analyses

The ideal candidate will be: -

• A Chemist or Biochemist by degree or equivalent life science qualification
• 2-5 years minimum experience as a Wastewater Chemist undertaking chemical analysis and Jar Testing or as a Wastewater Field Service Engineer
• Must have dealt with multiple customers over a wide variety of industrial wastewater processes.
• Hold a valid clean UK driving licence with the willingness to travel and undertake a hybrid customer facing field/ onsite lab role.
• Be organised and have excellent communication & interpersonal skills.
