What is the opportunity?
The Corporate Affairs function consists of three teams under the direction of the Chief of Staff to CEO Offices EMEA & Head of Corporate Affairs. The function’s primary aim is to actively drive and promote delivery of the firm’s EMEA wide strategy through an effective, multiple entity, EMEA wide Executive and Board corporate governance model; and a consistent, transparent regional EMEA wide communications strategy.
The Governance team is responsible for: EMEA wide, multiple entity corporate Board and Executive governance, shareholder communication, statutory compliance/filing of accounts, convening and running AGMs and Board meetings, including producing agendas, minutes, conveying decisions and providing corporate governance advice during and outside of the meetings.
The Executive Support team is responsible for: Day to day running of the CEO Offices, including short and long term planning required to fulfil management priorities.
The Communications & Brand team is responsible for EMEA wide internal and external strategic communications, thought leadership, social media, creative services, sponsorship and event management. The team ensures the Mizuho brand is represented consistently across EMEA.
The alignment of these teams facilitates cohesion between the CEO Offices, EMEA governance model and EMEA Communications and Brand strategy to drive a transparent culture at Mizuho EMEA.
What will you be doing?
Provide full secretarial and administrative support, including diary management for the CEO which will involve continuous amendments due to evolving commitments and multiple requirements for his time.
A high level of stamina and capacity are paramount; working in an extremely fast paced environment requiring a great deal of flexibility and commitment to ensure the CEO’s limited time is used most effectively.
Teamwork: report to the Head of Corporate Affairs, who has responsibilities for running of the CEO Office as well as EMEA Communications and Governance. Alongside the priority of supporting the CEO, the role holder will also have the ability to form good working relationships with this wider team and take the view that working together we can ensure the best results for delivering support to the CEO.
Demonstrate a high degree of agility and diligence as part of a changing environment.
The ability to credibly and competently interact with high profile external C-suite stakeholders.
Traditional style of support for the CEO which involves a very close working relationship with him, with multiple interactions through the day to ensure he has materials and appropriate preparation to succeed in his role.
Resolve and manage time-sensitive issues with a high degree of precision and exhibit strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills. Attention to detail and the ability to anticipate the needs of the CEO are a must.
Confidence and resilience in dealing with many internal and external stakeholders who will compete for the CEO’s time, acting as a gatekeeper of the CEO’s diary and information.
Responsible for travel and other necessary preparations for business trips for the CEO, working closely with the business managers to optimise the itinerary and client prioritisation.
Build good relationships with stakeholders of other Group entities in the capacity as the EA to the CEO.
Diary management and day to day contact for the CEO’s Chauffeur to ensure the CEO’s travel needs are met
The individual must demonstrate the ability to accommodate flexible work schedule, based on the needs of management and the department, however generally this is expected to be 8am – 6pm Monday to Friday; and additionally available on the phone out of hours where needed.
This role will require a minimum of four days in the office with one day remote working. Cover can be arranged for adhoc reasons where necessary.

Experience working in a professional environment
Strong track record in providing senior level support as a senior Executive Assistant
Used to dealing with complex and confidential information
Confident and capable of owning diary organisation, travel arrangements, minute taking and preparation of Board papers.
Intermediate level Microsoft Office Suite
Good basic qualifications in Maths and English
