Description:
The University of Huddersfield is seeking a passionate and experienced Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Manager to take the lead in embedding its values of inclusion, fairness, and belonging. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the delivery of the University’s EDI Framework, helping shape an equitable institution where staff and students from all backgrounds can thrive.
As a subject matter expert and advocate for inclusion, you will work collaboratively with diverse internal and external stakeholders to drive initiatives, support national charter marks (such as Athena SWAN and the Race Equality Charter), and ensure ongoing compliance with equality legislation and sector best practice.
This is a part-time (29.6 hours/week) permanent position offering hybrid working, allowing flexibility between home and campus.
Lead the implementation and delivery of the University’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Framework in line with strategic priorities.
Act as a trusted advisor and specialist on all matters related to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
Collaborate with academic and professional services teams to drive strategic EDI initiatives and support inclusive practices across the institution.
Manage and support the University's charter mark submissions, including Athena SWAN, Stonewall, and the Race Equality Charter.
Ensure compliance with equality legislation and implement best practices drawn from across the higher education sector.
Develop and analyse equality-related data, reports, and KPIs to inform policy, strategy, and action planning.
Organise and lead EDI-focused projects, campaigns, and events that promote inclusivity and cultural awareness.
Engage and influence stakeholders at all levels, building strong networks of inclusion allies across the University.
Demonstrable, in-depth knowledge and experience of EDI within a complex organisation (preferably in higher education).
Strong understanding of UK equality legislation, public sector equality duties, and equality charter frameworks.
Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and influencing skills.
Proven experience in managing diversity-related projects, campaigns, or events.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain confidentiality, and work with diplomacy.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and report on EDI-related data and metrics.
