Engineering Geologist

 

Description:

To further strengthen our Ground Engineering team, we are looking for a Engineering Geologist to join our team in Glasgow. You’ll be working on a range of both new and existing ground engineering projects in the UK and internationally.
 



Your key responsibilities will be:
 

  • Preparation of desk study reports, ground investigation reports and derivation of geotechnical parameters
  • Development of engineering geological models
  • Engineering geological mapping
  • Supervision of ground investigation and geotechnical works in environments including railways, highways and underground
  • Participation in engineering geological, geotechnical, rock engineering and other relevant company training
  • Delivering your work to a high technical standard, ensuring accuracy through a conscientious approach to self-checking
  • Supporting graduate staff in the engineering geology team

On top of that, you’ll have:
 

  • Have a bachelor's degree in geology (or a similar geoscience) and a master's in engineering geology or equivalent
  • Be actively working towards Chartered Geologist (CGeol) with the Geological Society, or equivalent such as CEng
  • Have a sound understanding of various ground engineering systems, e.g. rock engineering, earthworks and slope stabilisation
  • Have the inter-personal skills and aptitude to work collaboratively in a diverse multi-disciplinary team
  • Be self-motivated with good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Have familiarity with Eurocodes and a sound understanding of CDM Regulations, specifically the designers' requirements and the risk assessment process
  • Have knowledge of methods such as AGS data, Holebase, Groundhog, Leapfrog and rock engineering software
  • Holding a full UK driving licence is beneficial
