Description:
As Electrical Engineering Team Manager you will be responsible for all aspects of electrical engineering for our operational fleet of Onshore Wind, Battery and Solar Sites, ensuring that routine maintenance, defect resolution and project activities are completed safely and effectively. You will also be responsible for the implementation of robust and consistent maintenance practices that are employed to maximise operating efficiency of assets.
You will provide focused technical and project management support to the Onshore Wind, Solar and Battery Operational Teams to ensure the business is able to meet its goals. Furthermore, you will be required to engage with multiple stakeholders, both internal and external to SSE, to ensure that the fleet can operate to the highest standards of safety and technical performance.
Key Accountabilities May Include
- Technical Management of all HV maintenance activities, electrical work packages and complex fault scenarios on a diverse range of assets up to and including transmission connected equipment, managing to full resolution.
- Identifying all opportunities to increase the value contribution the engineering team make to the business through innovation and emerging best practice, technologies etc.
- Identification of key budget submissions for planned and unplanned works and business improvement projects, including in year management of both OpEx and CapEx budgets.
- Ensure the quality of all works delivered by the team complies with the required standards and is in adherence with business policies, procedures and regulations.
- Management and development of a large team of electrical engineers to achieve best performance and ensure that it is ready to accommodate growth and new technologies to ensure delivery of SSER's NZAP+ programme.
What do I need?
We're looking for an Electrical Engineering Team Manager who is highly motivated and committed to perform and manage a team to deliver high quality specialist work across Onshore Wind, Solar & Battery assets.
As a team, we strive to strike the balance between engineering expertise, technical ability, and practical application. As such, we would love you to have the following;
- A demonstrable background working within a similar engineering management role in a Power Generation environment or for electricity network owners & operators in GB/Ireland, with the ability to organise and manage team resources effectively and drive a positive team ethos and strong safety culture.
- A strong understanding of commercial drivers and revenue streams for renewable electricity generation, and the ability to determine and set budgetary requirements in an operational engineering context.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, and the ability to influence change and understanding amongst a range of stakeholders.
- Chartered Engineer and member of Engineering Council, or otherwise have a clear and well-defined path to achieving this would be desirable and supported, however, significant practical experience in electrical engineering in renewables, power systems, engineering backgrounds will also be considered.
- An ability and willingness for regular travel and collaboration days in SSE Perth/Glasgow and other key sites as required.
