Electrical Design Engineer

 

Description:

Lintott, a Galliford Try business, is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join their team. The successful candidate will report to the Technical Director and be responsible for developing cost-effective control solutions for projects, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, and staying within budget. The role involves designing, specifying, and implementing control solutions, attending design reviews, and supporting commissioning and testing.

The Electrical Design Engineer will work closely with the Sales team, value engineering solutions to identify alternative materials and scope changes while maintaining performance, quality, and compliance. A key part of the role is also liaising with other departments to ensure technical consistency across contracts and assisting in internal process development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement cost-effective control solutions for projects.
  • Stay current with evolving technologies and implement proven solutions to save the business costs.
  • Design, specify, and implement control solutions, including FAT and SAT testing of hardware.
  • Provide support to Sales for developing robust control solutions.
  • Value engineer solutions to identify alternative materials and opportunities for scope changes.
  • Attend design reviews and submit designs for approval.
  • Be on-site for commissioning and hardware testing.
  • Work within agreed procedures and formats for Lintott Control Systems.
  • Assist with process development to identify and remove non-value-added activities.
  • Provide support to the Engineering Team in case of holidays or sickness.

About You:

  • 1-3+ years of relevant experience in electrical design, particularly in MCC, Switchgear, Control Panel, and LV Distribution / Electrical Installations.
  • Experience working in a Systems Integration environment with Software Engineers to develop Functional Design Specifications.
  • Knowledge of BS EN 61439 and BS EN 60204 standards.
  • Qualified to the 18th Edition of the BS 7671 wiring regulations.
  • Proficiency in creating complex electrical schematics, general arrangement drawings, and BOMs.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical.
