Description:
The University of Manchester is looking for an eLearning Support Officer to join a team that supports the significant expansion of the online and blended learning (OBL) course portfolio across the University. The role involves maintaining and updating online teaching materials for OBL courses and units run through the Education Development Course Delivery Team in a variety of disciplines.
You will work closely with academic, administrative and support staff to help further the University’s strategic aims to incorporate distance learning into its programmes of study. You will proactively ensure that the learning materials for the courses are maintained and liaise with the appropriate staff to ensure content is current and up-to-date.
Candidates are expected to have experience of working in an eLearning or teaching and learning environment. Experience of developing eLearning materials for delivery in a virtual learning environment (VLE). You must have demonstrable technical skills in the production of creative learning solutions using common authoring tools and methods, including XHTML, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript and digital media technologies.
Candidates will require a broad understanding of the process of planning, designing, developing, testing and evaluating eLearning resources. Experience of working on eLearning projects and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and good analytical and problem-solving skills are essential.
It would be advantageous, but not necessary, to have experience of working with the Blackboard Learn 9.1 VLE, as well as familiarity with working in a higher education environment.
