VWV, a Top 100 UK law firm, is seeking an Education Lawyer to join our Regulatory Compliance practice. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to work at the core of our thriving education and regulatory division, advising independent schools, governing bodies, and school groups on a range of legal and compliance matters.

As an Education Lawyer, you will specialize in advising on parent and student issues, safeguarding, admissions, exclusions, disciplinary matters, inspections, and regulatory compliance within the independent education sector. Your expertise in both contentious and non-contentious work will be key in guiding schools through complex regulatory frameworks and legal challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

• Advise independent schools on legal compliance, safeguarding, and student disciplinary matters.
• Handle admissions, exclusions, appeals, and special educational needs (SEN) cases.
• Manage parental disputes, fee disputes, complaints, and tribunal claims.
• Provide legal guidance on inspections, reputation management, and crisis response.
• Work closely with the independent schools practice lead, supervising junior team members.
• Stay ahead of evolving regulatory and political changes affecting the education sector.

Skills & Requirements:

• Experience in education law, particularly in independent schools.
• Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks, safeguarding, and compliance.
• Ability to manage sensitive cases discreetly and protect school reputation.
• Experience in both contentious and non-contentious legal matters.
• Excellent communication, advisory, and negotiation skills.
