Description:
The Director of Fundraising is a newly created, senior role designed to help meet changing funding needs and ensure a stable and widening pipeline of income and legacies. It will be responsible for ensuring that The Salvation Army, as one of the most diverse providers of community and social services in the UK and beyond, can continue to do so in the future, building on their distinctive identity and values. The post-holder will research, develop and implement strategies which maximise donations from existing funding streams and invest in innovative fundraising activities to widen the charity’s fundraising portfolio, drive retention and increase net income. This is a big role, with fundraising activities for The Salvation Army’s two main charitable trusts raising £483million last year for their vital work.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience of successfully leading and managing a fundraising team within a complex organisation and a demonstrable track record of meeting ambitious income targets. You will have senior level expertise across the principal disciplines of fundraising, with the proven ability to apply that knowledge effectively within a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment. You will also have expert level understanding of all the media through which fundraising is executed, as well as a sound knowledge of digital platforms that support income generation and response handling. Finally, you will have the ability to make and develop strong, successful and collaborative working relationships at all levels within the organisation, combined with strong strategic planning, communication and influencing skills.
