Description:

The position will require an imaginative, innovative and highly motivated “self-starter” to build support for environmental programs at CIBC. At the same time, the issues are complex and the position will require an individual with technical knowledge and skills. The legal and regulatory framework on environmental issues and concerns is rapidly developing. An analytical approach will be required to define issues of significance from a risk management and corporate social responsibility perspective for CIBC now and going forward.

Knowledge And Skills
 

  • A relevant university degree, plus 3-5 years related work experience. Financial sector experience is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of environmental management systems along with the development and management of corporate environmental programs and policies.
  • Familiarity with the development and implementation of sustainability and climate risk regulatory expectations and best practice.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory developments in sustainability and climate risk areas in Europe and Asia.
  • Knowledge of sustainability disclosure frameworks, regulations and standards.
  • Driven to succeed and motivated by accomplishing your goals and delivering your best to make an impact.
  • A champion of change who continuously evolves the way you work and think in order to deliver your best.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Critical thinker with a high level of attention to detail, accuracy, and consistency.

  • Ability to provide ongoing technical advice and guidance, on conceptual and complex issues, in the area of environmental science, environmental risk and industrial processes and operations, as it applies to facilities and operations management, employee health & safety, etc.
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
