Design Manager

Description:

Babcock International is seeking a Design Manager (Defuel) to join their team at the Devonport site in Plymouth. In this key role, you will contribute to a high-profile project responsible for safely removing nuclear fuel from the UK’s decommissioned SSN submarine fleet, forming part of the wider submarine disposal project.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead technical teams to meet both customer and regulatory requirements for defuel projects.
• Contribute to the through-life management plan for essential nuclear facilities.
• Collaborate closely with project management teams to deliver critical assets and equipment to agreed time, cost, and quality targets.
• Support the development of strategic plans for maintaining nationally significant assets.
• Apply a systematic approach to demonstrate that all functionality meets specified requirements.
• Provide clear and regular progress updates to senior management.

Essential Qualifications:

• Degree in a STEM subject.
• Chartered Engineer or Chartered Project Manager with relevant engineering experience.

Security Clearance Requirement:
Candidates must be eligible to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance.
