Data Engineer

 

Description:

The role will primarily work on developing and supporting our AWS Redshift Data Platform through building data pipelines and shaping data into appropriate data models.

 

This is an opportunity to play a part in the roll-out of our new cloud-based Snowflake international data platform and the role would suit ambitious individuals who are keen to develop their skillsets and knowledge, or someone experienced with data looking to move into a more Data Engineer focused role. You will get the opportunity to work with emerging technologies and practices, and we will help support candidates on their growth and this journey.

Your tasks

  • Design and development of automated data pipelines and data structures.
  • Refinement and optimisation of existing data pipelines.
  • Work with stakeholders, data and design teams to assist with data-related technical projects and issues to support their data needs.
  • Support, troubleshooting and rectification of systems, pipelines and data.
  • Working in an Agile environment (e.g. Sprint, Scrum, JIRA, CI/CD etc).

 

Your qualities:

  • Proven experience in working with Data, including strong experience of SQL or Python.
  • Demonstrable experience of manipulating, transforming and tidying data into useable structures.
  • Experience working with AWS, Redshift, Snowflake, Matillion or similar cloud-based tools.
  • Working knowledge of source control and release management processes (GIT, Gitlab, Bitbucket, Jenkins or equivalent).
  • Comfortable working directly with key internal customers. Building relationships and being able to explain complex data areas in simple user-friendly terms.
