Credit Risk Analyst

Description:

Monzo, a rapidly growing fintech company, is looking for a driven and creative Credit Risk Analyst to join their Borrowing Team. This role is key to helping Monzo develop and implement credit strategies for unsecured lending products (including Flex, personal loans, and overdrafts). You will play a crucial part in improving the underwriting process, managing portfolio risk, and designing new products and customer journeys.

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

• Working on initiatives to improve credit underwriting, boost growth, and manage portfolio risk

• Designing and rolling out new lending strategies based on data insights

• Monitoring existing strategies and improving them over time

• Collaborating with cross-functional teams (engineering, marketing, product, risk, and control) to deliver product changes

• Developing, maintaining, and monitoring credit models to assess new lending cohorts

• Building and maintaining database tables and dashboards to provide actionable insights

• Assessing how the lending portfolio of specific products will perform over time

You Should Apply If:

• You have experience in unsecured retail lending (e.g., personal loans, credit cards, overdrafts, BNPL)

• You understand lending economics and have experience developing underwriting strategies

• You have strong analytical and data capabilities, with SQL as a must-have (Python and Looker are a plus)

• You understand the regulations that apply to lending in the UK

• You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are eager to improve products and help drive change

• You are a strong communicator who can articulate decision points clearly

• You have experience in project management and cross-team coordination

• You are motivated by the idea of making a positive impact on customers and the company
