Talbot Underwriting, a subsidiary of AIG, is looking for a Corporate Accountant to join its finance team in London. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to advance your career with a global leader in insurance and reinsurance.

This role is integral to corporate reporting, providing exposure to all aspects of financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and corporate governance.


Key Responsibilities:

Financial & Corporate Reporting

  • Ensure complete, accurate, and timely corporate reporting.
  • Manage Talbot consolidation and Group reporting to AIG.
  • Oversee UK and overseas statutory reporting and regulatory submissions to Lloyd’s and other regulators.

Accounting & Financial Processes

  • Prepare committee and board packs with financial data.
  • Maintain efficient accounting processes and controls.
  • Perform balance sheet substantiations and intercompany reconciliations under service-level agreements.
  • Support interim and year-end SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley) requirements.

Tax & Compliance

  • Ensure accurate tax submissions, including corporate tax returns (UK & overseas), Lloyd’s filings, Singapore GST, tax certificates, and SAO documentation.
  • Stay updated on new financial reporting standards and prepare associated accounting judgment papers.

Process Improvement & Projects

  • Participate in ad-hoc financial projects to enhance reporting processes.
  • Ensure documentation is maintained for key processes and controls.

Requirements:

Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with at least 3 years PQE
Experience in a similar role within the insurance industry
Strong knowledge of UK GAAP & US GAAP
Advanced Excel skills (data analysis, reporting automation, etc.)
Proficiency in financial systems (SAP, Sun, or similar general ledger software)
Knowledge of financial processes and controls
Tax knowledge is desirable but not mandatory
