Description:
Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking a Consultant Anaesthetist to join the expanding Theatres and Anaesthetics department. The role involves providing high-quality, progressive, and professional anaesthetic services across a broad range of surgical specialties. The Trust has recently invested heavily in upgrading its facilities, with a £3m refurbishment of the West Wing Theatre Suite, the addition of new anaesthetic and monitoring equipment, and a £36m investment in healthcare infrastructure.
The post-holder will work collaboratively with the existing Anaesthetists to deliver anaesthetic services in theatres, pre-assessment, and emergency settings. The position includes opportunities to develop special interests in areas such as Anaesthetic Simulation, Bariatric Anaesthesia, Pre-assessments, Paediatrics, and more.
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide anaesthetic services across a wide range of surgical specialties.
- Work in collaboration with the existing Anaesthetists to ensure a high-quality service.
- Contribute to pre-operative assessments and emergency anaesthesia.
- Participate in clinical education and development of medical staff.
- Engage in clinical audits, research, and continuous professional development.
- Manage 10 Programmed Activities (PAs) per week, with the possibility of an additional 2 PAs.
- Ensure the highest standards in clinical governance, safety, and patient care.
Key Requirements:
- Primary medical degree registrable in the UK.
- GMC Specialist Register (or expected within 6 months from interview date).
- FRCA or equivalent qualification.
- Experience in a broad range of Anaesthesia specialties, including obstetrics and paediatrics.
- Experience in Bariatric and/or Pre-assessment is desirable.
- Evidence of research, clinical audit, and teaching experience.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to plan strategically and manage workloads effectively.
- Full GMC registration and licensure.
