National Gas is on the front line of the UK’s journey toward Net Zero 2050, driving the future of sustainable energy. As part of this mission, we are seeking passionate and proactive apprentices to join our Capital Projects construction team as Construction Site Supervisor Apprentices.
This is an exciting hands-on apprenticeship where you will work alongside experienced engineers on real-world construction projects that ensure the safe and efficient delivery of natural gas across the UK today — while also preparing infrastructure for hydrogen, biomethane, and other future fuels.
This apprenticeship is perfect for those who prefer being out in the field rather than behind a desk. With dedicated training days, site-based learning, and college attendance, you’ll gain valuable qualifications while building a rewarding career.
Key Responsibilities:
✔️ Supervise specialist contractors on live construction sites
✔️ Oversee health and safety practices to ensure safe working environments
✔️ Record, monitor, and report on construction project progress
✔️ Manage environmental impacts during construction
✔️ Ensure construction works meet quality standards
✔️ Assist commercial teams by monitoring project costs
✔️ Work with Project Union and other innovative initiatives such as repurposing gas transmission pipelines for future hydrogen transport
What You’ll Learn:

Qualifications & Requirements:
✅ Minimum of five GCSEs (Grade C/4 or above) including English and Maths — OR a Level 2 Apprenticeship in a relevant subject
✅ A full UK driving licence is essential before the start date (September 1st, 2025) due to travel requirements
✅ Permanent right to work in the UK (National Gas is unable to offer visa sponsorship)
✅ You must have been a UK/EU/EEA resident for at least the past three years to qualify
✅ Willingness to travel regularly and stay overnight near construction sites across the UK
