Description:

An International Law Firm is actively seeking a Conflicts Advisor to join their newly created Conflicts & Compliance Team based in their Leeds office. This role offers a fantastic opportunity for career development, allowing the successful candidate to contribute to shaping the new team while playing a key role in ensuring the firm’s compliance with SRA Codes of Conduct and commercial risk management.


Key Responsibilities:

✅ Conduct conflict of interest analyses using the firm’s conflict-checking system (Intapp Open) to ensure regulatory compliance.
✅ Assess legal conflicts and confidential information issues in accordance with regulations and common law principles.
✅ Identify and evaluate commercial risks during the client acceptance and conflict-checking process.
✅ Advise partners and fee earners on conflict-checking procedures, ensuring full compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
✅ Build and maintain strong relationships with legal teams and practice groups to facilitate efficient conflict resolution.
✅ Coordinate with US counterparts to evaluate potential cross-border conflicts, ensuring compliance with US ethical rules, and obtaining waivers where necessary.
✅ Develop and maintain expert knowledge of the SRA Code of Conduct, particularly focusing on conflicts of interest, confidentiality, and disclosure obligations.


Qualifications & Skills:

✔️ Prior experience working in a Conflicts Advisor role (or similar) within a law firm—preferably in a commercial law firm environment.
✔️ Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess and interpret information methodically.
✔️ Comprehensive knowledge of professional rules and regulations regarding conflicts of interest and client confidentiality.
✔️ Proficiency in conflict-checking software, particularly Intapp Open (or similar systems).
✔️ Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to provide advice and guidance to senior stakeholders, including partners.
✔️ Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and meet tight deadlines within a fast-paced professional services environment.
✔️ Strong team player with a proactive and solutions-focused approach to problem-solving.
