Communications Manager

 

Description:

The UK Communications Manager is a new role and will work with the Head of Communications to raise the profile and understanding of Metlen in the UK. The role will support the various communications needs of the UK projects and communicate our commitment to the entire energy value chain in the UK; from renewable energy generation to power plant construction and grid modernization. This role will include some monthly UK travel to our sites and will be based in our London office.

 

Your role will encompass:

  • Day to day communications support for key projects across the UK
  • Work closely with various agencies to ensure effective planning and execution of communications needs, strategies and requirements relating to our key projects across the UK
  • Build strong working relationships with site and project managers in the UK and head office and the press office in Athens to enable effective communications support and ultimately the successful delivery of Metlen Energy & Metals projects across the UK
  • Build strong working relationships with external stakeholders and customers across UK projects
  • Work with the Head of Communications to manage the day-to-day media activity in the UK and media relations to articulate a compelling narrative that helps build the external reputation and profile of Metlen Energy & Metals in the UK
  • Drafting of media materials and pitching and securing media coverage that supports the business objectives
  • Protects Metlen Energy & Metals reputation and supports communications responses in incident or crisis situations
  • Develop and maintain a network of media relationships relevant to Metlen Energy & Metals in the UK
  • Regularly monitor, audit and report our share of voice, mentions over time via internal tools
  • Ability to travel throughout the UK for site visits and meetings as required

 

What you bring to the role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations or relevant field
  • 8+ years experience in a communications role ideally gained in-house in a related sector
  • Fluency in Greek language
  • A clear understanding of the energy industry in the UK and Europe
  • A proven track record of delivering measurable impact and results
  • Excellent planning and written skills with a deep understanding of the UK media and strong contacts in relevant UK media
  • Comfortable with ambiguity with the ability to work successfully in a fast-paced environment and operate with deadline-sensitive projects to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Crisis communications experience with understanding of how this impacts trust and reputation
  • Experience of budgets and working with agencies and comfortable with measurement, KPIs and reporting
  • Knowledge of working in a listed business will be beneficial and working in cross-function and multi-geography teams
