Description:
Galliford Try is seeking a Commercial Director to lead its Environment Commercial Business Unit in the West Midlands. This pivotal role involves driving commercial performance, ensuring robust risk management, and leading a high-performing Quantity Surveying team. You will contribute to strategic objectives and play a key role in the governance and leadership of the unit.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the commercial function, ensuring budgeted financial goals are met.
- Develop and implement commercial strategies, optimizing profit and cash.
- Oversee project controls, cost forecasting, contract management, and cash position.
- Collaborate with operational leads to ensure effective project governance.
- Participate in pre-construction and tendering governance, maximizing financial returns and mitigating contractual risks.
- Maintain compliance with company and industry standards, including the Business Management System.
- Develop strong relationships with clients, JV partners, and the supply chain.
- Lead dispute resolution and avoid conflicts.
- Develop and manage a high-performing commercial team with clear objectives and succession plans.
- Ensure effective reporting, governance, and approvals for client works orders.
- Represent Galliford Try in joint ventures and key stakeholder discussions.
About You:
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related field.
- Member of RICS / InstCES or similar professional body.
- CSCS accredited.
- Results-driven with excellent negotiation, analytical, and leadership skills.
- Experience in tendering governance, contractual compliance, and managing commercial teams.
