We are seeking a dedicated and methodical Cleanroom Assistant to join our dynamic Technical Services Unit within the Pharmacy Department at York Hospital. As part of the team, you will work in a highly specialized cleanroom environment where you will be involved in preparing critical pharmaceutical products such as chemotherapy drugs, Monoclonal Antibodies, and Parenteral Nutrition products, as well as a range of IV products.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a crucial role in ensuring patients receive the highest standard of care. You will be responsible for supporting the aseptic services unit and contributing to the safe and efficient preparation of pharmaceutical products that directly impact patient outcomes. Key Responsibilities:
As a Cleanroom Assistant, your duties will be varied and essential to maintaining the high standards expected in a sterile, cleanroom environment:
- Cleanroom Maintenance: You will be responsible for cleaning, maintaining, and monitoring the cleanroom environment and equipment, ensuring compliance with stringent quality control and safety standards.
- Stock Management: You will assist with the management of drugs and consumables within the aseptic unit, including conducting stock checks, receiving stock, and ensuring that expiry dates are monitored.
- Decontamination & Disinfection: You will participate in the decontamination and disinfection of the aseptic unit to maintain a sterile environment, critical for the safe preparation of pharmaceutical products.
- Environmental Monitoring: Performing essential environmental monitoring duties to ensure that the cleanroom environment remains in a controlled, compliant state.
- Administration Tasks: You will handle administrative duties such as recording and managing stock and performing regular checks to ensure that all products and materials are accounted for.
- Adherence to Procedures: Following established procedures and protocols is vital to ensure patient safety and product quality.

Qualifications & Experience:
- Educational Requirements: Candidates must have GCSEs in Maths and English Language (or equivalent) at grades C/4 or above.
- Experience: While no prior experience in aseptic services is required, applicants must demonstrate a strong ability to follow instructions and show a methodical approach to tasks. Full training will be provided.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work within a team to meet deadlines.
