Civil Infra (pipeline) Discipline Lead

Mott MacDonald Bentley is recruiting for a Civil Infra (Pipeline) Discipline Lead to join the Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) project, a £1.8Bn framework delivering over 500km of transfer pipelines across the East of England. As the Discipline Lead, you will be responsible for leading pipeline design activities to ensure efficient, safe, and environmentally sound construction. The role will involve overseeing the design and construction of large diameter transfer pipelines, including steel and polyethylene materials, for water transfer infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the pipeline design discipline, ensuring the quality and consistency of outputs across the SPA project.

• Provide technical leadership and support for pipeline design staff, including training and setting design expectations.

• Lead the creation of Standard Products, Design Guides, and Standard Details to improve efficiency and consistency.

• Represent SPA in technical meetings and support decision-making for pipeline design elements.

• Conduct checks and reviews of design outputs to maintain technical quality standards.

• Address complex technical issues related to pipeline design in collaboration with internal teams and partners.

• Ensure that resources for the pipeline design function are adequately allocated to support SPA programme delivery.

• Collaborate with other SPA teams to meet wider project requirements and improve programme efficiency.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Education: Degree in Civil Engineering or related subject.

• Proven experience in pipeline design for large diameter transfer pipelines, including steel and polyethylene materials.

• Experience in a design and build environment and temporary works design.

• Ability to effectively communicate technical requirements and expectations.

• Demonstrated resilience, adaptability, and flexibility in problem-solving and working independently.
