Mott MacDonald Bentley (MMB), a joint venture between global consultancy Mott MacDonald and civil engineering contractor JN Bentley, is hiring a Civil Engineer Project Leader to deliver transformative water and wastewater infrastructure projects under their extended contract with Thames Water through to March 2030. MMB delivers award-winning design and build services and maintains a strong foothold in the UK’s water industry.

As a Civil Engineer Project Leader, you’ll take a central role in delivering infrastructure and treatment projects across the Thames Valley region, enhancing systems for clean water production, wastewater treatment, and network upgrades. This hybrid role blends elements of traditional project management with technical design engineering responsibilities, offering the opportunity to fast-track your professional development or chartership.

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as part of a “project triangle” alongside a Site Manager and Quantity Surveyor to align technical, commercial, and constructability considerations.

• Lead the design and delivery of treatment and infrastructure projects from feasibility through to commissioning and handover.

• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including civil, mechanical, electrical, and process designers, as well as BIM modelers and technical specialists.

• Ensure project designs meet quality, programme, and budget expectations in compliance with framework and industry specifications.

• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to developing in-house expertise.

• Build and maintain strong client relationships, promoting a collaborative and unified project delivery approach.

Required Qualifications:

• Degree in Engineering

• Working towards a professional qualification (e.g., chartered status)

• Valid driving licence and flexibility to travel to project sites within the region
