Business Development Representative

 

Description:

TAG Events, a division of The Appointment Group (TAG), is seeking a proactive and driven Business Development Representative (Events) to join their London-based team. This dynamic role focuses on selling TAG Events' unique offerings, generating new leads, converting opportunities into secured business, and building long-term client relationships.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing a robust pipeline of event-related opportunities, collaborating with internal stakeholders across the Commercial and Events teams, and contributing to strategic sales initiatives. The role offers exposure to an international network, with collaboration across teams based in the US, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively generate new leads and build a strong sales pipeline aligned to division and company targets

  • Build and maintain a high-quality portfolio of contacts relevant to the Events offering

  • Develop business from existing clients by working with Events staff

  • Build a strong network and employ creative approaches to attract prospective clients

  • Maintain CRM systems to track prospective client interactions and ensure data accuracy

  • Liaise with internal teams for cross-division referrals and opportunities

  • Deliver KPIs related to meetings, conversions, and business development wins

  • Manage the end-to-end business development lifecycle, from lead generation to close

  • Collaborate with marketing to enhance company promotions and brand visibility

  • Recommend improvements to service offerings based on client expectations


Candidate Requirements:

  • Education to degree level or equivalent experience in events/business development

  • Strong knowledge of the Events market, preferably with TMC client exposure

  • Competent user of CRM tools and platforms

  • Demonstrated success in business development roles within fast-paced environments

  • Strong interpersonal, networking, and communication skills

  • Self-starter with a collaborative and pragmatic mindset

  • Ability to manage workloads independently while contributing to team goals


Working Environment & Structure:

  • Location: London (Hybrid model – flexible home and office working)

  • Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week

  • Reports To: Global Director of Events (London-based)

  • Cross-Regional Teams: Collaboration with international teams (US, KSA, SG, AUS, NZ)

  • Travel: Some out-of-hours work may be required based on time zones or event schedules
