Business Development Manager

 

Description:

Bounce Back is recruiting a Business Development Manager who will not only be responsible for retaining existing contracts, but also securing new funding through producing high-quality tenders and proposals that clearly demonstrate the positive impact that Bounce Back services have on young people and adults with a history of offending, at risk of offending and/or substance use.

Responsibilities:

  • Management of the pipeline of upcoming opportunities, including Work Plan and Contract Trackers.
  • Plan, develop and write a range of high-quality tender responses across a range of subject areas/service types.
  • Lead the development of responses in a bid prior to Head of Innovation and Growth and Director sign off.
  • Collaborating with teams to assist with the production of bids and implementation of successful tenders
  • Work with Heads of and other central teams (e.g. Finance/HR) to develop service vision, win themes, service models, budgets and supply chains/partnerships.
  • Work collaboratively across the organisation, including with senior stakeholders, to develop service delivery models, budgets and partnership arrangements for tenders.
  • Identify, analyse and address all specification and evaluation requirements relevant to specific tender responses.
  • Provide business development leadership and project management throughout the process, including for tender planning and partnership development.
  • Line management, support, training and development of the Business Development Lead
  • Ensure appropriate allocation and coordination of writers and contributors on specific tenders/responses.
  • Provide quality assurance on the written work of other members of the team through positive, constructive and challenging feedback.
  • Lead on advising the Head of Innovation and Growth, Heads of and Director on bid/no bid decisions on identified opportunities
  • Identify and analyse all specification and evaluation requirements and ensure these are consistently met throughout tender responses.
  • Implement local knowledge, research, evidence and data to ensure tender responses are tailored to commissioner and local needs
  • Ensure all tenders are submitted to Commissioner deadlines and requirements.
  • Represent Bounce Back at commissioner/stakeholder meetings, lead the development of new partnerships and attend tender presentations when appropriate.

 

Person Specification


Knowledge and Skills

  • Experience and proven track record in business development, including writing tenders, designing services, producing budgets, developing new models/products and forming strategic and operational partnerships.
  • Excellent project management and organisational skills including tender and pipeline planning and management.
  • Extensive proven experience of writing successful tenders, proposals and grant submissions, including excellent proof-reading and editing skills with an exceptional eye for accuracy and attention to detail
  • The ability to prioritise and meet deadlines while maintaining a high standard of quality.
  • Develop relationships/partnerships with external stakeholders and to negotiate contractual terms.
  • Experienced manager/leader, with the ability to manage, coach and develop staff
  • Good understanding of charity sector and in particular the barriers faced by people with a history of offending and or substance misuse and the challenges gaining work
  • Remain resilient in a high-pressured environment and respond proactively and positively to challenges (e.g. tight externally-set deadlines).
  • Experience or a working knowledge of Criminal Justice and working with marginalised groups.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills that enable connection with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Strong IT skills, including proven experience of using and maintaining a database
