Business Development Lead

As a key component of delivering on CEPI’s mission, we are growing our team and creating new roles in two areas of business development and alliance management activities – 1. our work to prepare for and respond to outbreak of CEPI’s core pathogens through acceleration of product development and enabling equitable supply of those products, 2. our work to prepare for and respond to an outbreak of Disease X through acceleration of product development and enabling equitable supply of those products including vaccine libraries and work with regulatory systems.

This role will support the accelerated growth of CEPI’s Business Development Areas by executing business development activities (included but not limited to search & evaluation, deal negotiation and alliance management) and delivering necessary outcomes for CEPI and its partners to prepare for and respond to outbreaks of CEPI’s core pathogens or disease X. We are hiring for two positions at this level. The interviews would be conducted on a rolling basis.

 

Responsibilities

  • Creates opportunities for initial investment and subsequent increased collaboration alongside technical colleagues such as the external development team and programme leads.
  • Design deal structure and ensures negotiations are led to their conclusion in a timely manner.
  • With our partners and Business Development Head, contribute to the co-creation and evolution of sustainable business models and access plans that enable technical, commercial and equitable access needs to be met.
  • With the Core Pathogens or Disease X teams, drives co-creation of deal models/ archetypes for different disease cases.
  • Collaborate with the Project Management Office and other departments in processes creation/ improvement. Design/co-create processes related to Business Development activities.
  • Builds trusting, long lasting and potentially multi-faceted partnerships capable of delivering CEPI’s objectives and acts as alliance manager to partners where assigned.
  • Identify, evaluate and address actual or potential issues with partnerships, making good business decisions in close cooperation with budget owner and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Provides advice on business and alliance management strategy and inputs to strategy and portfolio approach.
  • Collaborate with the Business Development Head and team members, as well as, with the broader Access and Private Partnerships department and program/ project teams in order to achieve goals and CEPI’s sustainable growth.
  • Become a subject matter expert in one or more of the following – early-stage product commercial competitive positioning, financial analysis and valuation, partner identification or blended finance and building public private partnerships.
