Business Development Director

 

Description:

We are searching for a proactive, dynamic and proven senior leader who possesses an intricate understanding of the Temperature Controlled Food sector who will design and lead a rapidly scaling growth agenda across the UK&I for a Global 3PL Logistics provider.

 

Your role will be pivotal in formulating and executing strategic plans to secure and retain clients, bolster revenue streams, and establish further dominance in the space.

 

Key Role Responsibilities

Strategic Vision & Expansion:

  • Design and execute the strategic roadmap for the UK&I region, aligning with the company's overall objectives.
  • Identify, assess, and capitalise on new market opportunities and industry trends within temperature-controlled warehousing and distribution.
  • Lead market entry strategies and oversee the expansion of the organisational footprint in alignment with growth targets.

 

Business Development & Revenue Growth:

  • Drive business development efforts to secure new contracts, partnerships, and clients, leveraging existing relationships and establishing new ones.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to develop and implement strategies to increase revenue streams and market share.
  • Drive innovative approaches to enhance customer engagement and service offerings.

 

Organisational Design & Talent Acquisition:

  • Develop organisational structures and strategies that support rapid growth and scalability.
  • Lead the recruitment, development, and retention of a high-performing team.
  • Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

 

Partnership & Stakeholder Management:

  • Cultivate and maintain strategic relationships with key UK & Global stakeholders, clients, partners, and key industry players / influencers.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows to promote brand awareness and build a robust network.

 

Business Unit Performance Analysis & Reporting:

  • Establish KPIs and metrics to measure the success of business development initiatives and regularly report on progress to the executive team.
  • Conduct comprehensive market analysis, competitive intelligence, and performance evaluations to drive informed decision-making.

 

Candidate Requirements

  • Have a Logistics Distribution & Supply Chain background, having successfully led a Business Development, Sales or Commercial business unit - Essential.
  • Proven track record in 3PL Contract Logistics sales with a minimum of 5 year’s experience at Head of / Director level – Essential.
  • Profound understanding of the Food sector, ideally temperature controlled Chilled and / or Frozen – Advantageous.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills – Essential.
  • Strategic mindset coupled with a strong business acumen, pivotal in driving revenue growth – Essential.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities - Essential.
  • Commutable across the UK, with a specific focus across the Midlands region, with European travel expected also - Essential.
