The University of Warwick invites applications for an exciting opportunity to join a dedicated team responsible for ensuring high animal welfare standards for rodents and fish in compliance with the Animal Scientific Procedures Act (ASPA) 1986.
As a Biomedical Services Unit Technician, you will:
✔ Supervise and manage wildtype breeding colonies
✔ Ensure daily health and environmental checks in line with ASPA
✔ Perform regular cleaning of animal housing areas
✔ Carry out regulated procedures on protected animals (Full training provided)
✔ Maintain accurate records in compliance with national legislation
This is an excellent role for those passionate about animal welfare and seeking to contribute to scientific research in a highly regulated environment.
The ideal candidate will possess:
✔ A passion for animal welfare and ethical research
✔ Knowledge of the Animal (Scientific Procedure) Act 1986 (preferred, but training will be provided)
✔ A Personal Licence for Rodents and Zebrafish or a willingness to obtain one immediately upon starting
✔ Strong teamwork skills, with the ability to work both collaboratively and independently
✔ Attention to detail and cost-effective work habits
✔ Excellent communication and record-keeping skills
Candidates must be educated to GCSE level or equivalent and be capable of following strict procedural guidelines in laboratory settings.
