The post offers the chance to support the Principal Clinical Psychologist in developing a high-quality trauma informed service. Providing psychological input to people with a learning disability who are experiencing high levels of distress, in order to prevent hospital admission and support them to live a rich full and meaningful life in the community,

The Multidisciplinary team are enthusiastic to work in a psychologically-informed ethos supporting psychological models of care that are in place, including formulation, Positive Behaviour Support, and trauma informed approaches.

The role will see you contribute to a variety of psychological assessments and formulation within a small multidisciplinary team. You should have a good honours degree in psychology (2.1 or better) and previous clinical experience as an assistant psychologist or equivalent.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
 

  • To support and enhance the psychological care of service users and carers within the Intensive Support Team in Learning Disability Services.
  • To work as part of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) providing evidence-based interventions for service-users with a learning disability who are experiencing high levels of distress and as a result are at risk of placement break down.
  • To support in the development of safety plans and risk management plans in order to manage risks and reduce service users distress.
  • To provide psychological assessment and psychological formulation under the supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist. To utilise different models of formulation according to the needs of the client/ carers.
  • To support in the development and running of psychoeducative workshops and trauma informed training to staff teams who support people with Learning disabilities.
  • To assist in clinically related administration, eg to support in the data analysis of incident forms connected to clinical work, audit and/or research projects across the service.
  • To work directly with individuals and groups of clients in the provision of psychologically based care.
  • To support in the development of the IST through assisting in our service development meetings and supporting the ongoing development work under the supervision of a Principal Clinical Psychologist and Community Team Manager.
