We are looking for a sharp, witty, and highly skilled Assistant Producer with a primary focus on video editing. This role is perfect for someone who not only loves politics and business but is also passionate about storytelling through video.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for crafting engaging, visually appealing video content that enhances the podcast’s reach and impact across multiple platforms. We interview some of the UK’s highest profile people so someone with a calm temperament around celebrities is crucial.
Our goal is to hit 100k youtube subscribers by the end of the year and you will help to make that happen.
Key Responsibilities
1. Video Editing & Production
- Episode Editing: Edit full-length podcast episodes for video platforms like YouTube, with a focus on intros to get to the crux of the story of the interview and build excitement for our audience.
- Highlight Reels: Create short, punchy video clips for social media, finding and distilling key moments from the podcast into engaging content that grows our reach and brings in nwe audiences.
- Visual Enhancement: Integrate graphics, animations, text overlays, and other visual elements to enhance the storytelling and make complex topics more accessible.
- Creative Storytelling: Work closely with the producer to develop a visual narrative that aligns with the podcast’s tone and message, bringing fresh, creative ideas to each episode.
2. Content Creation & Ideation
- Concept Development: Collaborate with the team to brainstorm and develop new content ideas, including video series, special features, and innovative formats that resonate with our audience.
- Scripting & Storyboarding: Assist in scripting and storyboarding for video content, ensuring a cohesive and compelling narrative structure.
- Content Repurposing: Repurpose existing audio and video content into new formats (e.g., trailers, teasers, compilations) to maximise reach and impact.
3. Social Media & Audience Engagement
- Platform-Specific Content: Tailor video content for different platforms, understanding the unique requirements and audiences of each (YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn).
- Trends & Analytics: Stay on top of current trends in video content, particularly in the political and business spheres, and use analytics to refine and optimise video output.
4. Technical Production
- Recording Assistance: Support the recording process, including camera setup, lighting, and ensuring a professional video quality both in-studio and remotely.
- Post-Production Mastery: Manage the entire post-production process, from rough cuts to final exports, ensuring a polished final product that meets the podcast’s high standards.
- File Management: Organise and maintain video files, project backups, and asset libraries to ensure smooth workflow and easy retrieval.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: 2+ years of experience in video editing, preferably in a fast-paced media, news, or content production environment.
- Video Editing Proficiency: Expertise in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, After Effects) with a strong portfolio showcasing your work.
- Visual Storytelling: A keen eye for visual detail, with the ability to craft compelling stories that resonate with audiences interested in politics and business.
- Creative Vision: Innovative thinking with the ability to bring fresh ideas to the table and translate complex topics into engaging visual content.
- Interest in Politics & Business: A genuine passion for politics, business, and current affairs, with the ability to understand and engage with the content deeply.
- Technical Skills: Knowledge of video production tools and techniques, including camera work, lighting, and basic graphic design.
- Wit & Sharpness: A quick thinker with a sharp sense of humour and the ability to inject personality into video content.
