Assistant Accountant

 

Description:

This role is ideal for someone with a strong drive to understand the motor trade (previous experience is a bonus!) and support a team that values quality and customer care by operating a slick Finance back-office.

 

You'll collaborate directly with the Sales Director weekly, diving into stock reports, profit margins, and finance queries.

The Role

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Profit margin reporting
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Supplier statement reconciliations
  • Hold weekly Finance review with director to deal with any unallocated costs, review sales & ensure stock up to date
  • Accurately posting & coding supplier invoices
  • Recording sales accurately
  • Weekly supplier payment runs
  • VAT returns
  • Reconcile petty cash
  • Liaising with external accountants on monthly/quarterly basis
  • Continuous improvement of accounting and back office processes
  • Post contra-journals to net client/supplier transactions
  • Ensuring cleared funds received prior to releasing a vehicle
  • Manage supplier relationships & deal with any invoicing queries
  • Accurate filing of records – strong audit trail throughout

 

The Person

 

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Potentially has experience within the motor trade/car dealership environment
  • Knowledge of the VAT margin scheme
  • Confident working independently but isn’t afraid to ask questions
  • Has strong excel skills
  • A proactive attitude & excellent communication skills
  • Is solutions led
