Additive Manufacturing Engineer

Description:

Rapid Fusion Ltd, an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) specializing in Large Format Additive Manufacturing (LFAM) solutions for polymer components, is seeking a hands-on Additive Manufacturing Engineer to join our permanent team. Our primary focus is on utilizing robotic systems to create proof-of-concept parts for clients, refining print processes, and optimizing designs specifically for large-format applications. In addition, the role includes overseeing other additive manufacturing technologies such as FDM, resin, and powder bed fusion machines.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with robotic 3D printing systems and be comfortable managing a variety of other 3D printing technologies. This role is key to supporting our clients' needs by delivering high-quality prints, performing print repairs, continuously improving designs for optimal LFAM performance, and ensuring that all projects are delivered on time.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate and manage robotic 3D printing systems to produce proof-of-concept parts for clients, ensuring precision and quality in every project.
  • Run and maintain other 3D printing technologies, including FDM, resin-based systems, and powder bed fusion machines.
  • Perform print repairs and troubleshoot issues across all printing platforms to minimize downtime and optimize performance.
  • Collaborate with clients to redesign CAD models specifically for LFAM, improving manufacturability and efficiency.
  • Optimize tool-path strategies and machine settings for large-format prints as well as other additive manufacturing methods.
  • Manage project timelines effectively, ensuring all tasks are completed within the agreed deadlines, and hold accountability for meeting project milestones.
  • Conduct hands-on prototyping, testing, and post-processing to refine the final products to meet exacting client standards.
  • Provide technical support and on-site service for assembly, setup, and maintenance of LFAM equipment and other 3D printing systems.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of print processes, revisions, design improvements, and project progress.
  • Stay informed on the latest developments in LFAM, FDM, resin, and powder bed fusion technologies to drive innovation in our processes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Additive Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with large-format 3D printers and robotic systems, specifically in creating proof-of-concept parts.
  • Familiarity with running and maintaining other 3D printing technologies, including FDM, resin, and powder bed fusion machines.
  • Strong knowledge of CAD software and 3D modeling tools like Fusion 360, Adaone, and AiSync for model optimization and tool-path programming.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and perform maintenance on 3D printers to ensure consistent operation across multiple platforms.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage timelines, deliverables, and accountability for meeting deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with clients to refine and redesign models for LFAM.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and attention to detail, with a focus on improving print quality and efficiency.
  • Willingness to travel for on-site printer setup, maintenance, and client support as needed.
