Description:
We are looking for an experienced Accountant to join the Budgeting and Accounting Team here at Norfolk County Council, and play a key role in helping to deliver a first class budgeting and accounting service across the organisation. Our Budgeting and Accounting Team are a critical part of our organisation, providing support across the breadth of our services to ensure that we’re accountable as a council, and that taxpayers are receiving the best possible value for money. Working in a large and complex environment, you’ll be part of a talented, proactive team that makes a real difference and is able to support the continual evolution and long-term objectives of the council. The core focus of this role is to work closely with our services, which initially is anticipated to be Community and Environment Services, assisting with day to day budgeting and accounting requirements, including Capital management and providing management and technical support to a team, which includes 4 direct reports. As a local authority, we are accountable to our taxpayers and it’s critical that we are able to maintain a high standard of professional accounting, ensuring our finances and budgets are transparent and accurate. To be considered for the role, you’ll need a proven background working as an Accountant or similar working as part of a finance team, and you’ll be qualified at CCAB level. You’ll be competent providing both management and financial accounting functions, you’ll be comfortable analysing complex financial and non-financial data, and you’ll have experience using your analysis to support and influence decisions. You’ll also be keen to contribute towards the continual improvement and evolution of the finance function, and you’ll be comfortable managing a team.
